Your Ultimate Guide To Working From Home!

The last couple of years has meant that we’ve had to adapt to a new way of working. This could be hybrid or working remotely, but we can’t deny that there has been a big change to office life. With some of us slowly making our way back into the office full time, it is important that employers have everything they need in place to make the transition as comfortable as possible. With a range of office furniture in Essex to choose from, employers can make sure the workspace is geared up for productivity and efficiency. If the office is a distant memory for you, here is our ultimate guide to working from home.

Routine

Creating a routine when working from home will get you into the mindset of being productive. If you’re new to working remotely, getting up at the time you would if you were going into the office is great. Keep your normal wake-up time, make sure you have breakfast to set you up for the day, and use your commute time to do something beneficial like exercising and movement, reading, or listening to music. Stay consistent and you’ll be able to create a new routine full of healthy habits.

Workspace

Remote working can come with a few challenges, one of them can be finding a spot to work where you will not become distracted. Find an area that you can designate to be your workspace – this could be a spare bedroom or dining room – and set up everything you need to work productively, like laptops, chargers, and screens. If there is somewhere in your home where you can fit a desk, great! This can help keep your documents and work in one place. When you’re at home, you may find it tempting to work from the sofa but resist the urge, investing in an ergonomic desk chair will be better for you in the long run!

Connect and communicate

If you’re used to office working, working from home may be a shock to the system. Without having your employees there to guide and discuss work with, you might find yourself feeling lonely. There are ways that you can combat this. Using communication platforms, video, and messaging software, can help to keep you connected to your employees throughout your workday. You could give them a call instead of emailing or schedule a digital get-together once a week.

Boundaries

Working from home can often blur the boundary between work and home life. You should communicate with the people in your household what your schedule is like during the day so that you can minimise interruptions and distractions. As well as this, making sure that you’re not allowing yourself to work longer hours than you usually would is important. When your working day is over, log out. Just because you have access to your work at home, that doesn’t mean you should. Work-life balance is key.

Stay active

Sitting at a desk all day can take its toll on the mind and body. Making sure you add a bit of movement to your day will help you to focus and keep you healthy. Getting outside on your lunch break to walk the dog and get some fresh air will help you to keep a positive mental attitude.
