3 Times When You’ll Be Grateful to Have a Locksmith on Speed Dial

You probably don’t give your locks a lot of thought. You lock the house or the car and as long as everything works properly, you just keep right on moving with your day. But what happens when the locks don’t work properly? Or when something else happens and those locks suddenly don’t seem so effective? That’s when you call a locksmith. And when these things happen, you don’t want to have to take the time to search for a locksmith. You want to have their number ready to go so you can get those locks fixed or changed and feel secure again.

You’ve had a break-in

It doesn’t matter if someone broke a window, broke the door frame, or had the keys to enter, a break-in always makes you feel insecure and vulnerable. Changing the locks is the first step toward feeling protected and safe again.

You might not want to just change the locks, however. You may also want to talk to your locksmith about installing newer, better, or more locks. You may also want to consider installing or upgrading a home security system.

Your key is broken or stuck in the lock

You’re locking the door to leave for the day. Or maybe you’re unlocking it because you’re ready to relax and rest after a long day. You slide your key into the lock, turn it, and… SNAP! You pull away part of the key. The rest is still in the lock, flush with or even slightly inside the lock where you can’t possibly hope to get it out.

Or you’ve turned the key and gotten the door locked or unlocked but now your key won’t come back out. You’ve turned it, jiggled it, yanked on it, pushed on it, and nothing is working. It’s stuck and won’t come out.

In either of these cases, you can’t properly lock your door – and you’re at risk for someone to more easily break in. Calling a locksmith who can come out 24 hours a day is essential to get that key (or piece of a key) out of the lock so you can properly secure your home. A locksmith can also give you advice on how to avoid future key breakages or sticking.

You’re moving into a new home

It’s exciting to move into a new home. You get to decorate the way you want, put all your things away just where you want them, and relax in a space that’s all yours. But is it all yours? How many other people have a key to your new home?

If the home is new construction, there may be several contractors and their employees who have keys. And if you’re not the first owner, there may be one or more previous owners who still hold keys to the house.

Having a locksmith come out and replace or rekey your locks can ensure that you and your family are the only ones who have access to your home. This can make you feel much more secure in your new home.

Locks protect you, your belongings, and your sense of safety. Knowing that you can contact a locksmith at a moment’s notice and have one come out to take care of your needs will add to that sense of safety.
