4 Tips for Making Your Co-Working Space Feel Like a Permanent Office

You plan on renting temporary office space for a week or so. While the office does include all the basics, it does have somewhat sterile look. You don’t want to load up a lot of things and take them to the office for such a short period of time, but a few personal touches will warm up the space. Here are a few ideas on how to personalize that Agile co-working space in downtown Toronto and give it more of an air of permanency.

Framed Photos For Your Desk

The desk already has space for your laptop or tablet, a speakerphone, and a couple of other things. You can dress up the desktop by adding some framed photographs. If there’s a credenza in the office, display a few more on top. Photos have a way of adding personality to any space and it won’t be difficult to tuck a few framed photographs in your computer bag for transport.

Artwork for the Walls

Artwork will also add a personal touch to the space. You may even notice there are already picture hooks on one or more walls. Invest in simple framed posters that fit in with what you want to do with the space. They can be posters with motivational quotes, relaxing shots of lakes or beaches, or anything else that you like. When you need a moment away from the computer screen, it will be easy to settle back in the chair, swivel around, and enjoy the artwork.

If there are no hooks and the owner prefers that you don’t add any, consider investing in a couple of easels. They can be used to display framed posters with ease. Best of all, you can always use those easels in the future when you exhibit at some type of convention or trade show.

An Area Rug Adds Some Visual Interest

Your co-working space will likely include a couple of chairs for visitors. They can float on one side of your desk while your chair is on the opposite side. Add some warmth and definition to the seating area by adding an area rug. It can anchor the space in between the desk and the chairs. It’s also another good way to introduce some color into the office without making any type of permanent changes.

Don’t Forget the Plants

There’s one other easy way to add some flair to your temporary office space: plants. You can go with simple green plants that require little to no care. Pick up some additional color with the pots and make sure you can place one on a corner of the desk and maybe one more somewhere else in the space. While you don’t want to create a jungle, one or two potted plants can add a finishing touch that helps to set off the other personal items you brought along.

Remember that temporary office space doesn’t have to be impersonal. Find out what the owner will allow you to do with the space and employ simple touches that require little or no time to set up or take down. As you learn more about Toronto office space rentals and what they have to offer, it will be easier to determine what touches will help you feel more at home during your rental period.
