5 EXPERT AND BUDGET-FRIENDLY REMODELING TIPS FOR YOUR HOUSE

Home renovations are big projects. Not only are they physically demanding, but they can also take a toll on your finances. Often homeowners find expenses exceed a lot more than the budget they set for their remodeling. Therefore there is a lot of stress before starting a home renovation project

But some things do not have to cost a lot. You can reinvent your living space without breaking the bank. Just follow these five expert budget-friendly tips to make your place look elegant and classy at a fraction of the price.

However, it will be wise to have a rough idea of the costs before you begin. Often expenses for a project creep up out of the blue. Get an estimate of the cost and then set aside twenty percent more money for the project.

  1. Just change the color scheme: You do not have to build or make lasting changes to the infrastructure to remodel your place. Consider changing the color of your walls to brighten up your house. But do not rush the decision since every color has a different effect on the space. A lighter color makes rooms look bigger and brighter. They can be a good investment for a house you want to sell-off. The upshot of this decision is that you can easily do it yourself. But do not jump the gun before your mask all the areas you do not want speckled with paint.
  2. Utilize every inch of space: Some houses have many hidden places that can turn into storage. You can build a small relaxing corner under the stairs. Or you can reorganize your kitchen space. You can do so by installing pull out drawers in place of shelves in your kitchen to make the best of limited space. Pull out trays can also convert a surface into an office space. You can also hide your kitchen appliances inside cabinets to open up more space in your house. Furthermore, you can introduce some shelves in your living room to save floor space. Despite this, if the house still does not have enough space, then consider renting self storage to put away the clutter. It will allow you to get more space in the house while your belongings will be in a safe place.
  3. Change the flooring: Are you tired of looking at the same 80’s style shag carpet? Do you want to uproot it and mix things up? You can now choose from new peel and stick floor options so you won’t have to remove your existing floor. Vinyl tiles are the easiest to install since they are self-adhesive. Use measure tape to calculate the room area, chalk the placement, and cut the tiles. Or if you want to go for a classy upgrade, then you can re-paint your wooden floor. But be forewarned that it is not a quick job. You will need to paint six different coats and allow each to dry for 24 hours. Paint on a coat of primer, three coats of paint, and two coats of polyurethane, and you will be fine.
  4. Change the windows: Natural light is an underappreciated resource. It can immediately change the way a room looks and feels. Thus, there should be a lot of natural light in your living room to get that warm, lived-in feeling. However, most homes have tiny, drafty windows that let in only a little bit of light. So, new windows can be just the thing for your house. Plus, newer windows will be more energy-efficient since you will save on lighting costs. And new windows can conserve heat as well since thermal separators insulate the air space in the frame.
  5. Get a new door: Most people do not know the value of a good front door. The right door can do wonders for a property. It is the first thing that you see when you enter the house. Indeed, real estate agents agree that the front door can set the first impression for a property. Not only that, but a good quality door can save energy costs as they are energy efficient. It can also upgrade the current situation with the least effort. And if you are looking to sell your house in the future, a new door can be a prudent investment. Experts estimate that a new front door can increase your home’s curb appeal by as much as five times.

Conclusion

The word home renovation is now synonymous with too expensive or extravagant. But revamping should not make you broke. A well-planned and well-executed house renovation project can do wonders for the resale value of your property. You only have to know what to change and what to skip. Research before you dive into the remodeling project to keep unforeseen costs to a minimum.
