Coffee Habits That You have Never Heard Of

Coffee is one of the most common drinks found in any household. It is loved by almost everyone to the extent that drinking coffee in the morning has become a ritual in many houses. Coffee consists of caffeine that has a lot of health benefits too. It is known to reduce the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer. Caffeine consists of antioxidants that kill free radicals and reduce inflammation in the body. Moreover, it stimulates the mind, reduces depression, and provides the right energy to kick-start the day on a high note. These benefits have made it a popular drink among people.

People who love coffee like to push the boundaries of its capabilities. The coffee habits that some of these people follow will leave you flabbergasted. Let me introduce you to some of these ‘not heard of’ coffee habits:

Bulletproof coffee

Also known as butter coffee, the bulletproof coffee is a fad among coffee lovers. This coffee is known to provide health benefits such as giving your brain the healthy fats necessary for preventing some critical diseases. It is also claimed that bulletproof coffee improves the body’s fat-burning process and improves cognitive abilities. Moreover, the fat in butter slows the release of caffeine in the coffee, making its effects last longer. Some coffee lovers also use it as a meal replacement in the mornings. It looks weird, but it isn’t the weirdest way people love drinking their coffee.

Egg coffee

The origins of this concoction lie in Vietnam. It is made by whipping together egg yolk and condensed milk until it’s creamy and then adding coffee to it. Egg coffee looks like a cappuccino as it’s light and creamy in texture. Some cafes in Vietnam offer egg coffee with butter and cheese as well. It’s a traditional recipe that has gained a lot of popularity.

Coconut milk coffee

Coconut milk is another unique ingredient that is added to coffee in Vietnam. A lot of coffee shops serve shots of robusta coffee with iced coconut milk. For a hot summer day, it is a perfect drink to enjoy. The sweetness of coconut milk cuts through the bitter taste of coffee to enhance the flavor.

Coffee pods

In recent times, coffee pods have become popular among coffee lovers. This is a versatile product that comes in a variety of coffee pod flavors. Each pod contains 5 to 7 gms of ground coffee which is good enough to make a 40 ml Espresso. Making coffee is instant with these pods, and you can even carry these in your pocket outside your house also. Moreover, these pods are biodegradable and help in reducing wastage. Your household’s carbon footprint will decrease if you switch to coffee pods.

Coffee with lemon

One of the traditional ways of drinking coffee is by taking a wedge of lime or lemon post-coffee. Lemon acts as an excellent chaser for coffee, especially espresso. The acidity in lemon cuts the bitterness and gives a fresh feeling in your mouth. This seems counter-intuitive, but you will have to try to believe.

Coffee with sea salt

Salt is generally added to bring out the sweetness in fruits or other ingredients. In Taiwan, people add sea salt to coffee so that it reacts with it and releases flavors more easily. Salt also cuts through coffee’s bitterness, making it perfect for drinking.

Coffee with cheese

Sweden is the origin place of coffee infused with cheese. Milk, cheese, and butter have similar fat which cuts the bitterness and delays the caffeine delivery in the body. But, this idea of savory coffee is a bit weird. The cheese used is sweet when cold and hence doesn’t taste as sharp as you would expect.

Nitrogen infused coffee

A new way of brewing coffee is by making it with nitrogen. This coffee looks just like dark draft beer. The nitrogen gas produces a creamy foam that keeps the coffee flavor intact. Nitrogen infused coffee is a great energizer and tastes amazing as well.

Following a routine is good, but taking deviations isn’t always bad. Who knows you might encounter a better way of doing things. Try these unique flavors to enhance your coffee experience. Do you think you can handle these off-beat coffee habits?
