Dr. Savoy Brummer loves to promote diversity in the field of medicine

The pandemic undoubtedly altered the lives of many. Whether it was businesses, individuals, or governments, everyone was affected. If you are wondering about Hollywood, COVID-19 impacted that as well.

Upcoming movies starring A-list actors were postponed because studios didn’t want to screen films in empty theatres, adhering to social distancing regulations. TV shows struggled to film scenes because obtaining permits for large casts was equally challenging. The entire business needed an overhaul, which opened the doors for people like Dr. Savoy Brummer to step in and save the day.

Born in Arkansas, life was always tough for Dr. Brummer. After all, people of color don’t have the most welcoming experiences in the deep south, something Brummer’s father also went through as he came from the inner city. However, he admired his father for his honesty, passion, and character, battling on even when things got tough – he stood in the face of adversity and never lost hope. He was never missing or out of the picture. Instead, he was as attentive as a father could be, always by Savoy Brummer and his twin brother’s side whenever they needed him.

Racism is prevalent globally, but the deep south didn’t take kindly to Brummer and his twin brother. Derogatory words were constantly hurled at both of them, and even the teachers wouldn’t spare them. They recommended that Savoy and his brother refrain from taking accelerated courses without evidence. Fortunately, Brummer’s mother was an educator and addressed the school, helping her sons receive the education they deserved.

All this resulted in Savoy Brummer attending Howard University and graduating with a 4.0 GPA. His academic merits were enough to earn him a place in the top-ranked medical school in the country – NYU. After graduating, Brummer did his residency at an Ivy League school – The University of Pennsylvania.

Today, Savoy Brummer is a medical professional who does it all. He’s an award-winning physician with a wildly successful medical practice. In addition, he also ventured into Hollywood when the pandemic engulfed the entire world, serving as a COVID-19 compliance supervisor and a medical director on multiple films, TV shows, and comedy specials.

Dr. Savoy Brummer’s breakthrough came when he produced “Asking for It,” an R-rated thriller starring Vanessa Hudgens that got accepted by the Tribeca Film Festival. Since then, Brummer has continued to amass notable credits, including working on “King Richard.” His role on the set of “King Richard” was to ensure COVID compliance during filming.

As a result, Savoy was responsible for limiting the infections and COVID spread. He was also tasked with crafting protocols to safeguard the cast and crew’s safety. Moreover, he had to organize regular testing of the crew, actors, and extras to ensure a safe environment, allowing a smooth production process.

Dr. Savoy is also serving as executive producer on the upcoming film “Mort in Sherman Oaks,” starring Francesca Eastwood, daughter of legendary film director and movie star Clint Eastwood. This is not all! Brummer has also worked with multiple big names in Hollywood, including Netflix, Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Studios, and Dave Chapelle’s Magic Lemonade company. However, he still has lofty ambitions in the entertainment sphere, as it is his utmost desire to direct a movie.

But that doesn’t mean Dr. Savoy Brummer has forgotten about medicine. After all, that’s his passion and true calling. He’s the only doctor in a family of educators, and he doesn’t intend to stop. He likes bringing diversity to medicine. He’s already been a part of various foundations and community boards, including being on the past board of directors for Planned Parenthood and the Emergency Medicine Foundation.

Currently, he just wants to help people focus on their well-being. Dr. Savoy Brummer considers exercising, prayer, meditation, and assessing your inner emotions as the main tenets of a healthy life. He advises everyone else to do the same – whether on a movie set or in the doctor’s office.
