Garlic Health Benefits – How Garlic Can Fight Against Chronic Diseases

People of all ages – from children to old men – have learned about garlic’s health benefits and are slowly converting to this super food. There are many reasons why people are converting to garlic’s beneficial effects. We may be experiencing aging, we may be suffering from some health conditions, or we may just want to stay young and beautiful. No matter what our reasons are, we must admit that garlic is delicious!

Let us take a closer look at the health-care benefits of SupaGarlic: How does garlic help prevent heart diseases and protect against cancer? The answer is very simple: it contains a class of super-hot, antiseptic chemicals called allicin. Allicin is a natural organic compound that exists in all plants, especially those with seeds and skins such as onions, garlic and tomatoes. These compounds help prevent bacterial and fungal infections in our bodies and prevent DNA damage. Furthermore, it helps prevent free radical damage and protects against the onset of inflammation. Allicin has even been found to inhibit tumor growth and prevent clots.

In order to take full benefit of allicin, you must consume raw and unpeeled garlic. Raw garlic contains allicin but because it is difficult to digest, it has to go through several digestive processes before it is released into our bodies. By consuming raw garlic, you are able to absorb the allicin faster and convert it into its active form. Eating raw fruits and vegetables are also a great way to absorb raw garlic. A daily dose of fruits and vegetables lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system and prevents cardiovascular diseases.

However, scientists have also discovered another very powerful compound in raw garlic: a group of sulfur-containing flavonoids called allicin. This class of chemicals has proven to have positive effects on cardiovascular health. Some studies have even shown that eating aged garlic extract can increase bone density and reduce blood clots. The scientists are still looking at how allicin affects bone health and whether or not it is best to take aged garlic extract in its raw form or make a supplement out of the powder and grind the allicin into a fine paste.

In experiments with laboratory mice, scientists from the Harbor University Graduate School of Medicine found that allicin reduces cholesterol levels. They also found out that it decreases blood pressure and raises HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). This makes a lot of sense, since everyone knows that high cholesterol is a risk factor for coronary artery disease and heart attack. So, it stands to reason that if you want to protect your heart, you should definitely eat lots of garlic and control your cholesterol levels. It’s also good news for people that want to lose weight because consuming large amounts of garlic can help them shed pounds by curbing their appetite.

Unfortunately, there is a catch to these wonderful Garlic Health Benefits. Since garlic contains allicin, it can raise your cholesterol level to unhealthy levels if you do not watch your consumption. The problem is that even though allicin is bad for your health, it is actually toxic when swallowed in large quantities. Therefore, it is extremely important to make sure that you only consume garlic in its raw form as much as possible.
