When you pay for the internet services in your home, you should try to take full advantage of what you’re getting. When you use the Wi-Fi in your home on your phone, it can save the data that you have with your plan so that it can be used when you’re away from home and need service. The connection in your home is usually a bit faster than the one offered by your mobile provider as well. There are about 85% of people in the country who have a smartphone. A little over 75% of people have an internet connection at home that they can easily use on the device that they have.

The Same Service?
Even if you have an internet connection on your smartphone, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you should be using your data. Instead, you should use the Wi-Fi from your internet provider on your phone as this is what you’re paying a bill for each month. Some of the data plans that mobile providers offer are restrictive in how much data you can use each month or where it can be used. Some plans with smartphones have a data cap of 50GB while others have plans that are as low as 25 or 30 depending on the provider and the type of plan that you choose. Once you reach the data cap each month, then your speed is usually significantly slowed to the point where you can’t really do a lot online.
With most satellite internet plans for homes, there usually isn’t a data cap in place unless you have satellite internet. The speeds are exceptionally faster with home internet, and the connection is a bit more reliable compared to the possibility of not being able to connect if you’re in what’s considered a dead zone for your mobile provider. You’ll also have better coverage using your home’s Wi-Fi connection for your phone compared to using your data and possibly not having a signal in one or more rooms.
Reasons to Connect
Video
If you enjoy streaming your favorite movies and television shows, then you want to use the internet connection in your home because it’s going to be faster. There will usually be less buffering, even on your phone, and you won’t use large chunks of the data that you do have so that you save your data for when you do need it outside the home.
Calls
Sometimes, you might need to make a video call whether it be for work, school, or pleasure. Your home internet service can provide a better connection for using everything from Zoom to FaceTime so that you can hear what the other person says and so that there are no glitches in the video, which can result in a distorted image or voice.
Printer
A wireless printer is beneficial to have, and when you use your home internet on your phone, it can make the process of printing what you need a little easier. If your computer won’t connect to the printer, then your smartphone usually will so that you don’t have a device that sits there and collects dust.
Connecting
With most devices, all you have to do to connect to your home internet is to go to your settings. You’ll select the Wi-Fi that’s usually displayed on the top row of options, and connect to your network by entering your password. If you can’t connect, you can always contact your mobile provider or internet provider to troubleshoot the issue.
