How long does voice lessons take?

Well, it is a question that every aspiring singer wants an answer to. So, lets discuss this question and try to get to answer.

A lot of factors affect your vocal training, like how often do you practice, natural talent and how serious you are about music.

Many people do have a natural talent for music and singing, but not everyone has that natural ability. It doesn’t mean that they cannot learn how to sing, it just takes a little longer for them. A good vocal teacher will guide you through the entire process and will work on your pace. Even if you have a natural talent having a vocal teacher will do wonders for your voice. Therefore, how long will it take for you to learn to sing can depend on your natural ability to sing, provided you have a good vocal teacher.

The next factor which determines how long will it take for you to learn how to sing is the quality of your voice lessons. If you have a mediocre teacher or someone who isn’t compatible with you, chances are that you won’t enjoy your voice lessons. A good teacher means a good quality vocal lesson, but that’s just not it. The environment of the vocal also matters a lot. A good teacher and a fit environment for the vocal class is what defines a good voice lesson. So, choose your teacher and your institution wisely. One wrong decision and it can make you lose interest in the field.

Number of practice sessions and the kind of practice sessions also determine your growth. To learn music, you need to follow proper discipline. If you are laid back and you think that your voice lessons are a way to pass your time, then it is obvious that you won’t make much progress. Therefore, you got to be regular with your music lessons and practice for at least 20-30 mins every day.

Your individual will and desire acts as a motivation for you to learn any new thing. Music is a field which requires you to give it your hundred percent. How motivated and keen are you to learn to sing also decides how long will it take for you to learn. If music isn’t your passion and do not intend to take it seriously then practising for even hours every day won’t help you succeed.

In conclusion, music is an art therefore it cannot be rushed. You need to be patient with yourself and regular with your lessons. There are so many different types of music and voices, and quite frankly it can take you forever to learn them all. It completely depends on you that what kind of a singer do you want to become. If you are taking voice lessons simply to improve your singing then it won’t take you long before you become a singing sensation. But if you are learning to become an allrounder and a real marvel in the field of music then it can take you a really long time, even your entire life! That’s how vast this field is.
