If the coronavirus pandemic has killed off your motivation, and the days of gym training are long behind you, it’s time to step up and take action.

Living a healthy and active lifestyle is incredibly important. Without it, it is easy to fall into unhealthy patterns of eating junk food and doing a very little exercise.

The older we get, the more effort we have to put into our health. As kids, exercising was second nature, and our fast metabolisms kept all the sugar and snacks at bay. But, as the metabolism slows and our joints and muscles begin to age, maintaining an active lifestyle is vital for long and happy life.

Here are some easy ways to boost your activity and live a healthier lifestyle:

Double Up On Fruit and Veg

Fruit and vegetables are the first step to a healthier diet. Leafy greens and fruits offer the body a source of vitamins and antioxidants that help boost the immune system and keep the body functioning. It’s recommended that adults eat ten varied servings of fruit and vegetables a day.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is a great way to promote mental and physical wellbeing. There is no end to the benefits water can provide. From removing toxins, improving brain function, and keeping us energized, water is the best way to keep our body and mind fit and healthy. Health authorities suggest adults should be drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

Exercise

Of course, another essential for an active lifestyle is exercise. While gyms might not be open in your area, there are still plenty of ways to get the heart rate pumping. Walking, running, cycling, or even dancing around the house are all great options. The American Heart Association suggests that adults should be doing 150 minutes of exercise a week – or an hour three times a week. Exercising in the morning will help you feel refreshed and energized for the day.

Even when eating a healthy balanced diet, it can be difficult to get all the vitamins your body needs to maintain physical and mental health.
