Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced 2020: An Introduction and Analysis

Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced) is the top entrance examination held in India, for Engineering UnderGraduate admissions to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Institute of Technology (NITs) and other leading technological institutes.

The JEE-Advanced Score is also used by some international institutes like the National University of Singapore and the University of Cambridge, to assess and admit Indian applicants. JEE-Advanced is organized by one of the seven old IITs, under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

The genesis of JEE-A can be traced back to the Indian Institutes of TechnologyJoint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE), the Entrance exam conducted by the IITs, for admission to IITs. In 2002, the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) was introduced, to screen and admit students to Institutions of national importance like the National Institute of Technology (NITs) – earlier called Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs).

In the year 2012, with mounting concerns on the plethora of Entrance exams that aspiring students had to take and the associated stress and logistical difficulties they had to cope with, AIEEE was changed to JEE-Main and IIT-JEE became IIT-Advanced, with both exams being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). JEE-Main thus became a screening exam for JEE-Advanced.

With this necessary background, let us look at the Analysis of JEE Advanced and how it can help students prepare in their quest to succeed in these very competitive exams.
