Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced) is the top entrance examination held in India, for Engineering UnderGraduate admissions to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Institute of Technology (NITs) and other leading technological institutes.

- Paper-2 was tougher and lengthy, compared to Paper-1
- Physics questions were generally conceptual in nature, and those based on mixed concepts took a long time to answer. These questions were from Electromagnetic Induction, Current Electricity, Rotational Motion, Heat, Thermodynamics, Fluids and Optics, chapters.
- Mathematics questions were largely from Calculus and Algebra chapters and covered: Limits, Functions, Differentiability, Continuity, Application of Derivatives, Differential Equations, topics. Coordinate Geometry questions were from the Hyperbola section. Algebra questions were from Complex Numbers, Permutation & Combinations and Matrices, chapters. The probability chapter had a question that required lengthy calculations.
- Chemistry questions covered all chapters, and most of the questions were from Organic Chemistry. Physical Chemistry questions were from Atomic Structure, Ionic Equilibrium, Solutions and Chemical Kinetics, chapters. Overall chemistry questions can be rated in difficulty level as easy to moderate.
Paper-2 Pattern:
- Paper-2 had three subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- Total Marks: 198
- Duration: 3 hrs
- 54 Questions
- Each subject had 3 sections; Section-1: 18 marks; Section-2: 24 marks; Section-3: 24 marks
- Section-1 had 6 questions.
- The answer to each question was a single-digit number from 0 to 9
- Marks scheme for Section-1:
- 3 (Full marks); If the correct number value was entered
- 0 (Zero Marks); If no options were chosen
- Minus1 (Negative Marks); For all other cases
- Section-2 had 6 questions, each question providing four answer options
- 1 option or more than one option can be correct.
- Marks scheme for Section-2:
- 4 (Full marks); If all the correct options are chosen
- 3 (Partial Marks); If three correct options are chosen out of four correct options
- 2 (Partial Marks); Only two correct options are chosen out of three or more correct options
- 1 (Partial Marks); If one correct option is chosen out of two or more correct options
- 0 (Zero Marks); If none of the options is chosen
- Minus 2 (Negative Marks); In all other cases
- Section-3 had six questions.
- The answer to each question was a number. If the number had more than two decimal places, then the number truncated or rounded-off to 2 decimal places applied.
