The global luxury watch market is valued at over $23 billion. Some of the most popular brands include Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Cartier.
Not only are they made of high-quality materials, but like collectible cars, they often retain their value. In fact, it’s not uncommon for some to increase in value over time.
If anything, you just have to maintain them properly.

- Remove And Clean The Bracelet
Assuming that you have the proper tools, you can take the metal bracelet off the case; that’ll allow you to thoroughly clean the watch. For one thing, it’ll give you access to the inner surfaces of the bracelet’s end-links.
Not only that, but you’ll also be able to clean the area between the lugs on the case. As for the bracelet, you can wash it with warm soapy water. We recommend scrubbing it gently with a soft brush to get in between the links.
Or if you want, you can use an ultrasonic cleaner. Just don’t put the watch head inside; the vibrations will shake up the movement and that can damage your watch.
- Wash The Watch Case
Most, if not all luxury watches are waterproof to a certain extent so it’s perfectly fine to wash the case with water.
Take Rolexes, for example, they’re waterproof to depths of at least 50 meters. With that said, different models have different specifications so keep that in mind when you’re looking for Rolex watches for sale.
Start by filling a small bowl with warm water. Add a few drops of mild soap and swish it back and forth to mix the solution.
Make sure that the crown is properly screwed in and carefully submerge the watch case in the soapy water. Gently rub the surface with your fingers to remove any dirt.
Once you’ve done that, rinse it with fresh water. Continue until all of the soap has been washed away and dry with a microfiber cloth.
- Be Careful With Leather
Leather straps should never be washed with water. Not only will it damage the material, but it can also cause it to stain or discolor.
Wipe it down with a dry cloth instead. That’ll help get rid of any dirt or debris that has collected on the strap. For example, you can use a jewelry polishing or microfiber cloth.
If necessary, you can also apply a small amount of soap onto the cloth.
Rinse the cloth under running water when you’re finished and squeeze out the excess water. Lightly wipe the leather strap with the damp cloth to remove the soap residue.
Allow the strap to air-dry afterward.
