Understanding Micro Dosing

Psilocybin OCD treatment has gained prominence in the news recently as a method used by high-profile entrepreneurs and innovators especially in the tech world to enhance their cognitive abilities and work output. Although high doses of psychedelics such as LSD and psilocybin a.k.a magic mushrooms results in hallucinogenic side effects and disorientation, while at a lower dosage, it may lead to an increase in creative thinking, problem-solving, and boosting moods.

Psychedelics in general, have been subjected to little scientific research over the last few decades due to their being banned. However, studies that have been carried out on psilocybin mushrooms have yielded some extremely interesting results.

The hallucinatory and performance effect associated with taking mushrooms is believed to be due to the brain becoming hyperconnected, a state in which an excessive number of connections are made between neurones as seen in schizophrenic or epileptic patients. Thereby resulting in sensory overload. It has also been shown that the differences in the functions of the brain caused by taking mushrooms can last up to a year in individuals, with different people stating that taking psilocybin was one of the most profound experiences of their life.

However, psychedelic trips don’t appeal to everybody, and experiencing them frequently may be detrimental. This is where microdosing comes into the picture. Due to microdosing, some of the benefits of taking mushrooms can be derived, without plunging into an altered state of consciousness.

THE BENEFITS OF MICRODOSING

Although no proven research exists on microdosing, anecdotal data has been collected based on the personal experience of people. Dr. James Fadiman, the author of The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide, has gathered information from many microdoses out there, and he put together a summary of the effects, optimal dosages, and scheduling.

While the individual experiences of the microdoses vary, many people reported similar outcomes after microdosing. It is uncertain, but based on other reports, the following sensations are likely:

  • Most users reported increased creativity during the mornings, especially when engaging in work and creative projects. Reports state how easy it is to get into a workflow, making the work process much more enjoyable and productive.
  • In the afternoon, more energy than usual is reported, which can also lead to increased stamina and strength when working out during this time. Users reportedly showed improved levels of focus and coordination.
  • At the end of the day, users report improved emotional states that stimulate stronger bonds with friends and the alleviation of depressive symptoms. People have also been said to have become more emotionally open and aware. Being more receptive, grateful, and appreciating life is also states commonly expressed when microdosing.

WHAT IS A MICRODOSE?

A microdose, just as it sounds, is a dose so small that the effects of the substance cannot be felt. They are subtle, operating below the threshold of their more potent effects. The dosage can vary depending on the individual and can be worked out via self-experimentation. Factors such as body weight and individual sensitivity are also put into consideration.

A microdose of psilocybin mushrooms is reported to be between 0.2–0.5g. Dr. Fadiman has stated that people taking a dose this low often function a little better than normal, albeit after having received no report of such small doses leading to social disruption.

USING A MICRODOSE

Dr. Fadiman recommends individuals to take a microdose every 4th day in a 10-week cycle. For instance, take a microdose on Saturday, observe the residual effects on Sunday, then take Monday off. Take another microdose on Tuesday, observe the effects of Wednesday, then take Thursday and Friday off.

Draw comparison notes as you go through this process, recording the effects you observe, what feels different in your normal daily routine, and how you performed. It’s also important to note how you feel at a particular dose to find your optimum amount. It’s recommended to simply follow your normal routine when microdosing.

MICRODOSING IN THE FUTURE

The reports collected by Dr. Fadiman have recorded about 99% positive microdosing experiences, with a minority reportedly experienced an alarming level of emotional release. The practice of microdosing holds something special. Hopefully, as drug laws become more lenient and more efforts are put into lobbying, microdosing can be studied in greater depth to obtain a clearer perspective exactly what benefits it holds.

And that’s it, the benefit of Mircodosing. Be sure to check out NUPEP SHROOMS for your microdoses, edibles and magic mushrooms. Keep baking, stay health, and have fun.
