Buying a new home is a major milestone in your life. It is also a moment that comes with several mixed feelings–excitement, nervousness, stress, and sometimes cold feet. With all of these emotions, it’s often hard to make the right decision, which is why you need Vancouver’s reputable real estate agents to guide you toward making the best choices.

Certain things affect what your ideal home looks like. While you may not have thought about them, we’ve listed some out for you.

Home Styles

As you prepare to buy your new home, one of the things you should have figured out is the kind of home you would love to Live in.  Residential properties come in different styles,  models, and designs. The best one for you depends on what your preferences are. Factors such as your budget and how much space you need would help you make the right choice.

  • Single-Family Home

These types of homes are designed as a singular unit. As the name implies,  they are built only for one family, and they do not have shared walls. They also have private spaces. Single-family homes are ideal for families who value their space and privacy.

  • Multi-Family Home

Multi-family homes, also called duplexes, are intended for use by several families, depending on the number of housing units contained in the property. They are good for extended families that want to live closely.

  • Condominiums

Condominiums or condos are similar to multi-family homes. They are made up of individual units within a building. While condo owners have their private space, they also share public spaces and resources. Each unit pays a certain amount of money which covers the cost of maintenance for the public spaces.

Home Specifications

After considering the type of home you would love to have, you should also consider the specifications of the house, such as the number of bedrooms, toilets, and bathrooms, extra rooms such as study rooms, storage rooms, and dining rooms, size and features of the kitchen, heating and cooling systems, yard size, landscape, garage, etc.

Considering the house specifications would help you choose one that would be comfortable enough for you and your family. For instance, if you have children or you plan to have them in the future, depending on the number you intend to have, you may want to buy a house with enough bedrooms for you all.

Neighborhood Styles

There are different types of communities you can choose from when buying a property. Because buying a house is a long-term investment, and you’re likely to stay in it for a long time, ultimately, the choice you make can affect your well-being and happiness long-term.

  • Urban Communities

Urban communities are more civilized communities. Busy metro areas and easy access to basic facilities such as public transportation, schools, parks, restaurants, gyms, etc, characterize them. Getting a house within this area is harder,  and also, houses tend to have little space due to the population of residents. You’re also more likely to find multi-family homes than single-family homes.

  • Rural Neighborhoods

Rural neighborhoods are usually remote areas. They are not as busy as urban neighborhoods, and they do not always have easy access to facilities. Houses in this area tend to be cheaper and have more space.

  • Cul-de-sac neighborhoods

Cul-de-sac neighborhoods are a good choice for families that love a communal life. They are found in suburban areas and typically consist of several units of single-family homes within a closed end.

  • Walkable Communities

These types of neighborhoods are located just within the outskirts of major cities. Similar to urban cities, they also have bars, clubs,  gyms, restaurants, and other facilities that people can walk to.

  • Golf course Neighborhood

A golf course community is usually located at a country club or a golf course. They are often more expensive to live in and also require a membership fee.

  • Retirement Neighborhood

Retirement communities are designed for elders and retirees. It is most suitable for people around 55 years and above. They often have facilities that provide an easy living for the aged, and also different kinds of amenities for relaxation such as clubhouses, pools, etc

While many people are concerned about buying a house, they often forget to put all the factors in view, but that’s where real estate agents come in. They have an eye for details; they consider all the factors–even those you didn’t think were necessary, and devote their time and effort to help you find the right house.
