Why Hyderabad’s Startup Scene Is Unique

Apart from political stability and excellent infrastructure, Hyderabad is also a thriving knowledge hub that hosts a massive talent pool of IT, R&D, and BT resources. The city of Nawabs also boasts of an extremely progressive bureaucracy along with startup-friendly IT policies and a wide variety of cost-effective real estate options to become an attractive destination for startups that’s quite different and more nimble than several other Indian cities. Those looking for budget-friendly, plug-and-play offices can even choose best coworking spaces in Hyderabad from a wide range of available options.

Let’s take a closer look at what makes Hyderabad’s startup scene unlike any other.

A varied talent pool

To thrive, startups need a wide and varied talent pool. This is exactly what Hyderabad has. The city plays home to multiple research institutes (such as NIN, CCMB, ICRISAT, and NARM), defense institutes (like DMRL, DERL, and ECIL), and other leading institutes (including IIT, ISB, NALSAR, and IIIT, among others). Hyderabad also hosts several top IT/software companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, Accenture, IBM, TCS, and Capgemini, to name a few, that require knowledge-intensive professionals. Thus, the city offers the ideal environment to harness and develop its home-grown talent and even attract bright minds from other Indian states and cities. This is good news for Hyderabad-based startups as they will have easy access to an energetic, young, and varied talent pool of smart professionals to hire from.

T-Hub

T-Hub has acted as the game-changer for Hyderabad-based startups. It’s an initiative between the Telangana government, some of the nation’s leading academic institutions, and the private sector. With its unique PPP (public private partnership) model, T-Hub has not only acted as a conduit between startups and global talent but has even helped the former at every stage – right from inception till maturity.

With its 850+ events and 75+ exclusive programs, T-Hub has helped raise more than 1,800 crore funding for its program startups and impacted 1,100+ startups. Backed by strong government support and industry tie-ups with leading names like TiE, Nasscom, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Intel, Salesforce, and many more, T-Hub brings a massive tech and product know-how along with some amazing offers and credits to let the city’s startups benefit at low or no cost at all.

T-Hub’s second phase (T-Hub 2.0), which is spread across 3.5 lakh square feet and designed to house 1,500+ startups, will be opening soon. Once it becomes functional, it would not just be India’s largest technology incubator but even the world’s largest incubation center.

Other initiatives

Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) – a dedicated innovation cell run by the Telangana government is working to promote startups and thus, support economic growth through innovation. It has helped Hyderabad’s startups significantly.

The city also hosts several startup incubators and accelerators to offer adequate support to entrepreneurs and promote a fitting environment to set up and grow their startups. Some of these are NASSCOM 10000, IKP Knowledge Park, DLabs by ISB, and Atal Incubation Centre. With multiple funding options offered by the city’s investor community like IIIT Seed fund, Hyderabad Angels Network (HAN), Caspian, Inflexor Tech fund, and Go North Ventures, Hyderabad startups don’t need to worry about raising funds.

With so much on offer, Hyderabad is surely poised to become India’s startup capital in the near future.
