Why Is It Essential to Have Biometric Authentication?

It’s a well-known fact that advancements in the world of technology have revolutionized every aspect of human life. Be it the corporate sphere, medicine or education, technological developments have completely transformed how we perform day-to-day tasks.

While said innovations have mostly been good for the human race, they have opened ways for scammers and thieves to deceive and rob people. This is why some hackers can infiltrate systems and acquire sensitive information that they use to their benefit every other day, which couldn’t be more accurate in the case of identity thefts.

Biometric Authentication Saves the Day:

Stealing people’s identities has become a wildly common practice that leaves many penniless. An impenetrable authentication system is essential to prevent such incidents, creating a specific need for biometric authentication.

Unlike the conventional identification mechanisms where citizens have to enter PINs, biometric authentication uses a person’s fingerprints to identify them, making identity theft impossible. Learning someone’s passcode is easy but acquiring their fingerprint is impossible. Therefore, having biometric authentication is a must if you wish to stay safe from impostor traps.

If that’s not enough reason to make you realize the importance of biometric authentication, here are some compelling arguments to change your mind.

No Need to Remember Passwords:

Forgetting passwords is pretty common among people of all ages, and understandably so. With so much on everyone’s minds in today’s world, keeping with so many passcodes get exceedingly tricky. As a result, individuals lose their pins and go through the tedious process of resetting passwords.

That is not only a pesky deal for users but also IT-based customer care companies that have to go through an elaborate procedure every time someone forgets their pins. It takes quite a lot of time and energy of both parties involved, not to mention the firm’s resources dealing with the issue.

With biometric authentication, users cannot lose their identification pins because their biological features are involved, which are hard to change or forget.

Biometrics Are Non- Exchangeable:

Unlike numbers, secret questions and passwords that people can share with others, biological characteristics such as fingerprints, pupils, facial features are non-transferable. So, there is no chance of anyone getting access to your personal accounts.

Smooth and Seamless Customer Experience:

A key advantage of getting biometric authentication is frictionless user experience. Since biometrics is based on a person’s biology, they don’t need to remember and renew passwords all the time.

All users need to do in order to enter an account or system is present their finger, eye or face, and they’ll be able to access the account. In other words, biometric authentication offers a convenient, high-speed identification method that makes for a hassle-free experience.

Increased Protection of Assets:

Typically, people use codes to secure their assets, such as bank balance, Finance accounts etc. But traditional security systems based on passwords are not fool proof in terms of protecting assets as anyone can get access if they acquire the alpha-numeric or just numeric/alphabetic code. That is certainly not the case with biometric authentication.

Since the said mechanism is based on a user’s physical traits, nobody can fake those, resulting in a tightly locked system that’s impossible to breach. OF course, if someone uses force and coercion to pressurize someone into giving access to an account, penetration is highly unlikely with biometric authentication.

Safety from Malware and Bots:

Besides hackers and scammers, malware is also a concern when it comes to keeping personal information secure. Biometric authentication allows companies to keep their ecosystems safe from viruses and ensure unbreakable encryption.

Easy Enrolment:

Another appealing feature of biometric authentication is easy enrolment. In the past, inserting fingerprints or other biological features into an information database seemed like a tall order requiring complex procedures. But now, doing so is a piece of cake. The scanning machines are much faster and more advanced, reading features instantly and entering them into any system. This is also much simpler than coming up with passwords and putting those into a system.

Thinking of a phrase or name as your password is tricky because you don’t want to use anything too simple and can be copied easily. Add the issue of replicating a complex passcode verbatim to the mix, and you get the letters wrong, more often than not, while typing.

Every software requires users to rewrite a password to ensure that it picks up the correct word and enters that into the system. This process of rewriting is not so straightforward because, generally, people try to come up with a confusing password to ensure greater security. Consequently, they mess up writing their passcodes again. All that hassle is avoidable if biometrics authentication is used.

Takeaway:

Using biometric authentication is unquestionably a smart move for a super convenient, fast and unbreakable security system to keep your information and assets safe.
