You may think that given the events of 2020 and the impact which the lockdown has had on business that now would be a bad time to set up a small business. In actual fact this could be the perfect opportunity for you to do just that.
Business expert William Seegmiller has been speaking of late about just how good an opportunity this is, and why despite the fact that so many businesses are being forced to close their doors, your new business could do very well indeed, if you get it right.
Compared with an existing business which is already well invested in it, your new business will be set up under the new conditions. These other businesses have been set up under old conditions, they have deals in place with suppliers, they have partners who may or may not exist anymore and they have faced the shock of having to close their doors when they didn’t expect to. Your business of course will be set up entirely differently.
It is not crass to think that there are going to be opportunities which open themselves up to you as a result of so many companies having to close their doors. You are not responsible for those businesses being forced to closed and taking up their premises or buying low cost inventory from them just makes good business sense. The world moves on and if you are on the front foot then you can be leading the charge and seeking the success in your own business which you have been looking for.
Small is the New Big
Whilst massive companies like Walmart and Amazon have done very well throughout this global pandemic, it is the small businesses who have really managed to do well. After an initial shock, many small businesses focused on their local community and the community responded. There was a clear desire to help out the little man during all of this and there is no doubt that this attitude towards buying is going to continue. As a small business you are going to be starting at a time when people are looking at lifting others in the community up and that is certainly something which you and your business could benefit from.
It is important to remember that the more new businesses are created when others are closed, the better chance you will have of taking up big chunks of market share quickly. If this doesn’t happen then that is when those consumers will turn to the retail giants like Amazon and the market ends up bottlenecking, with Amazon just chomping up that market share. Get in and secure those customers who have lost their favorite store or business. If you are on the front foot and you do things right, you will find it far easier to get customers than you would have done a year ago.
Now is the time for action.
