The XAT exam is conducted for admission of candidates to various MBA colleges and PGDM courses. The exam is conducted once every year in 46 cities across India. Through the XAT scores, candidates can get admission in XLRI, 10 other XAMI members and over 700 B-schools.

XAT Exam Syllabus & Fees

To be eligible for this exam, a candidate needs to hold a Bachelor’s degree of three or more years in any field. An equivalent of it from a recognized institute may also work.

The exam is conducted through online mode and the duration of the exam is three hours. The medium is English. On the day of the exam, the candidate is not allowed to carry any electronic device like a calculator, mobile phone Upstox Review 2020 or even a watch. No stationery is allowed as well. The documents that the students may carry on the day of the exam are the XAT admit card and identity proof.

XAT Exam Syllabus

The candidates preparing for XAT need to work hard and study diligently to get good scores and clear the exam. An efficient study plan works wonders when exams are involved. Making elaborate study plans and sticking to them is the secret to success.

But a student cannot score well if they are not well acquainted with the syllabus. We have provided the detailed syllabus below so that students can prepare well for this exam.

In 2018, the syllabus for the XAT exam was revised and the Essay Writing section was removed. Now, the students have to focus only on Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge to clear the examination.

Verbal and Logical Ability

The section of Verbal and Logical Ability has 26 questions for the candidates to answer. In case of a wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each. The syllabus includes topics such as

• Reading Comprehension
• Fill in the blanks
• Antonyms and Synonyms
• Jumbled Paragraphs
• Contextual usage of vocabulary
• Correction of errors in sentence
• Word usage
• Sentence Completion
• Paragraph completion in the Reading Comprehension section. The passages given will be from literature, science and culture, socio-economic essays, and abstract topics.

Decision Making

This section has 22 questions with each question carrying one mark. 0.25 marks will be deducted in case of an incorrect answer. The questions are all situation-based and the following topics are the ones that the candidates need to be thorough with

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation

The section has 27 questions and like the other two sections mentioned above, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in this section as well. The students need to study the following topics

General Knowledge

This section has 25 questions for the candidates to answer but no negative marking. Following are some important topics

• Government and Economy

Along with the negative marking for each incorrect answer in the first three sections, there will also be a deduction of 0.5 marks for more than 8 unattempted questions with hdsector.

While there are several books by several publishers to prepare for the first three topics, GK can be prepared through reading newspapers, magazines, and journals.
