Tenet is an upcoming Action Sci-Fi directed by Christopher Nolan and written by Nolan “Tenet” Christopher Nolan’s birthday party had a bittersweet tone. The Briton turned 50 last week with the halo of being one of the most respected filmmakers of his generation; but Tenet, his latest film and the one that could mark the pinnacle of his cinematic style, has suffered a stormy wave of delays in its release date. Some analysts predict a very bad prognosis. Tenet’s huge investment – which is estimated at about $ 250 million and makes it Nolan’s most expensive film so far – will not be matched by the diminished box office it would get. Eric Handler, a Wall Street analyst, says that Tenet’s success or failure will depend on whether the other studios will keep the release plans for their titles or change them once again. In fact, in Latin America the hope that the British film will reach the big screen this year is increasingly remote. And that includes Colombia.
As has happened in recent years, moviegoers and industry clung to Nolan like a beacon, with the idea that his genius would save hearts and pockets amid this health emergency. Despite all the doubts and the economic fiasco that may even represent him, he has remained firm in the idea of releasing Tenet in large format. Last March, in statements to ‘The Washington Post’, he made an exciting defense of cinemas as “the most affordable and democratic meeting place of our community” and asked for help due to the threat of coronavirus to theaters. “When people think about cinema, the first thing they think about is the stars, the studios, the glamor. But the movie business belongs to everyone: the people working at the food stalls, those who run the equipment, those who check the tickets, those who choose the movies, those who sell advertising and those who clean the bathrooms. Normal people, and many of them charge by the hour, “he explained.
Principal photography commenced on May 10, 2019 in California, United States and concluded on April 15, 2019. The film is set for release on September 3, 2020.
